RABBIT DISEASES

Rabbit Flea :

 Spilopsyllus cuniculi , Ctenocephalides felis

Treatment

               *  Topical application of Imidacloprid 0.5ml (less than 5 kg  Bwt ) once a month

               *Topical application of Imidacloprid  1ml   (more than 5 kg  Bwt ) once a month

Selamectin can also be used


FIPRONIL IS TOXIC TO RABBITS


FUR MITE : Cheyletiella

EAR MITE :  Psoroptes  cuniculi

Treatment

       Topical application of ivermectin or selamectin


Common Antibiotics used in Rabbits


 * Penicillin G (40 mg/kg given SC every 24 hours)

*  Metronidazole (20 mg/kg given orally every 12 hours )

*  Enrofloxacin (10-20 mg/kg given orally or SC every 24 hours) 

*  Sulpha Trimethopirim can be used

NEVER USE AMOXICILLIN ORALLY IN RABBITS
